Certosa di Montebenedetto

Situated above the village of Villar Focchiardo in a clearing surrounded by woods at the height of 1160 meters of the Natural Park Orsiera Rocciavré, the visit of this Charterhouse is a beautiful day trip few kilometers away from Turin. This small medieval monastery has carefully preserved its original charm, with the simple church and the remains of the monks cells. Situated at a short distance from the charterhouse there is the Correria, the lower house of the monastery, the only place where the nonreligious were allowed. The visit can be done through a self-guided tour. In the church there is a permanent exhibition showing the history of Montebenedetto and the life and the rhythms of the monks, unchanged over the centuries. Availability of self-managed lodgings with accommodation for 20 people.
